UPDATE: Elderly man pulled from downtown marina dies

KELOWNA - An elderly man pulled from the water at the Kelowna Yacht Club has died.

Despite efforts to revive him, the man, 66, succumbed in hospital Aug. 16. No further information is available at this time from RCMP.

The investigation by the Coroners Service continues.

KELOWNA - An elderly man was caught in a dangerous incident on the downtown waterfront this afternoon.

Shortly after 12:30 today police received a report that a man had somehow gotten into an emergency situation beneath the docks at the Kelowna Yacht Club. With a rescue effort involving the West Kelowna RCMP, Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, the 66-year-old man was pulled from the water.

In critical condition, the man, not yet named by police, was rushed to Kelowna General Hospital by ambulance.

No further information can be released until family members are contacted.
