PENTICTON - A Penticton man has a court date after crashing his newly leased car last week.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says a 19-year-old man, who had just leased a Dodge Challenger, lost control of the car while driving overnight on Oct. 20.

As the man was turning left onto Baskin Street from Warren Avenue he travelled sideways through fencing and hedges before striking a tree, which prevented the car from plowing into a residence, he says.

The airbags deployed and the driver escaped injury.

Wrigglesworth says liquor was located at the scene and impaired driving is suspected. The driver was released on a promise to appear in court on a charge of refusing to provide a breath sample.
