VERNON - Four people were arrested following a drug trafficking investigation in the city.

Mounties first arrested two men operating a dial a dope business from their vehicle. From there, officers obtained a search warrant for an apartment on the 4100 block of Alexis Park Drive. Three men and one woman in total were taken into custody through this investigation.

A man, 21, was in possession of cocaine and heroine packaged for sale. It's believed the deals were to happen away from the residence.

During the search of the apartment an ounce of heroin and drug trafficking paraphernalia were found.

"The investigators commented that an ounce of 28 grams of heroin is typically packaged into 280 tenth or 0.1 gram portions for sale on the street," RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says. "Though an ounce might seem like a small number, it prevented approximately 280 sales of heroin on the streets of Vernon."

The two other men and one woman are from the Vernon area and between 30 and 33 years of age.

All four people were released for a court date in 2014.
