SALMON ARM – A woman ended up in hospital after an out-of-control vehicle in Salmon Arm hit her on Friday.

RCMP say a Salmon Arm man lost control of his vehicle on a slippery section of Grandview Bench Road on Friday, Jan 6, and ended up in the ditch.

As the vehicle went into the ditch, it hit a woman who was walking along the road, according to a RCMP media release. There are no sidewalks on the rural road.

“The female pedestrian was helped by the driver of the vehicle and did continue on and walked home only to be taken to the hospital a short time later,” Staff Sgt. Scott West says in the release. “At hospital it was determined that she had suffered injuries that would require immediate care by a physician.”

The driver was given a ticket under the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act.
