WEST KELOWNA - The District of West Kelowna has a new Chief Administrator.
Mayor Doug Findlater announced fomer Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Administrator Officer Jim Zaffino was appointed by council as the muncipality's new CAO. When Jason Johnson left the position to assume the seat of City Manager for Victoria, Zaffino was appointed February 7, 2014 to be interim CAO.
“Mr. Zaffino is an award winning municipal leader, who has the respect of his peers and the confidence of Council. His appointment brings leadership continuity to the District of West Kelowna,” said Findlater.
Zaffino was the second member of the District of West Kelowna' Senior Management Team, brought on board in 2008. He has 39 years municipal government experience as CGA and CPA and was awarded a Professional Service Award for leadership by his peers in 2011 at the Local Government Management Association of B.C.
“Council values Mr. Zaffino’s experience, financial and management expertise, excellent rapport with management and staff, and solid reputation with stakeholders, community leaders and counterparts in government.”
Mr. Zaffino’s appointment as CAO will continue through to his expected retirement in June 2015.
“The process to search for the District of West Kelowna’s third CAO will then be left with a new Council, to be sworn in after scheduled local government elections in November,” stated Findlater.
