Desperate times for Penticton thieves

PENTICTON - Police report a couple of unusual and desperate thefts in the past week.

Community Policing Coordinator Rick Dellebuur says police were called to Bosley’s Pet Food Plus store in Penticton on July 20 after a woman walked into the store, picked up a bag of dog food off the shelf and produced a receipt at the till in an attempt to get a refund.

The woman then left the store carrying a dog cooling jacket which she claimed was hers, but which staff later found was taken from the store.

Police have identified the woman and are looking for her.

Police were also called to the Black Sea Motel on July 23 after complaints from two cleaning staff who said a man attacked them in order to steal a number of returnable containers being collected from the rooms.

Police were able to locate the individual, who was arrested and charged with assault.
