VERNON – A 37-year-old Coldstream man is nursing deep bruises, cuts and road rash after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle near Polson Mall Wednesday afternoon.

The cyclist was riding westbound on Highway 6 when he was hit by a 73-year-old Vernon woman driving a Hyundai Sonata while she was turning left from the highway onto Pottery Road.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

There was about $500 damage to the hood of the car, but an estimated $5,000 worth of damage to the carbon fiber triathlon bike.

The driver of the car was given a ticket for failing to yield on a left turn.
