A father from Canmore AB was found dead in his hotel room after competing at the Canadian Culinary Championships in Kelowna over the weekend.

Coroner Larry Marzinzick of the B.C. Coroner's Service says 23-year-old Fabien Arnaud Denis Diquert was found in the later morning hours of Sunday, Feb. 10 at the Elderado Hotel, located at 500 Cook Rd., Kelowna.

The chef worked at the Crazyweed Kitchen in Canmore and is survived by his partner and his young daughter.
