MONTREAL - Police say a 33-year-old woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting her mother during a family dispute in Montreal.
Emmanelle Tremblay appeared in court via videoconference Saturday and was charged with attempted murder, armed assault, assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
She will remain in detention until her next hearing.
Montreal police say an altercation began at around 8 p.m. Friday in an apartment in the Rivieres-des-Prairies borough.
Witnesses told investigators the fight turned violent and a 60-year-old woman was struck in the upper body with a sharp object.
Police say the alleged victim is out of danger.
