UPDATE: Sun Peaks power outage was short-lived

The area affected by a power outage in Kamloops stretches from the Southern Yellowhead Highway to Sun Peaks.

SUN PEAKS - Nearly 1,700 B.C. Hydro customers were without power in Sun Peaks this afternoon, but crews have managed to get it switched back on.

According to B.C. Hydro, power was out from the intersection of the Southern Yellowhead Highway and Heffley Louis Creek Road to Sun Peaks Road and East Village Ski Way.

The only details offered indicated that a tree had fallen on power lines east of Westsyde Road, affecting 1,698 customers around 2:30 p.m. today, March 20.
