Cool weekend expected in Kamloops

The South Thompson River from Riverside Park, Feb. 20, 2017.

KAMLOOPS - A little bit of winter is returning to Kamloops this weekend with cooler temperatures and flurries forecast.

Today, Feb. 23, is expected to be the warmest of the next few days, according to Environment Canada. A high of 4 Celsius is predicted during a clear and sunny day. Some of that daytime warmth will escape this evening though, as temperatures drop nine degrees to -5 C overnight with a chance of flurries.

Tomorrow morning the day will start off with a chance of flurries and cloudy sky, but that will break up into a mix of sun and clouds in the afternoon. A high of 1 C is expected. The overnight temperature will drop to -8 C.

The weekend will be a little greyer and less dramatic, as Saturday is expected to hit a high of 2 C with a mix of sun and cloud. At night the temperature will drop to -3 C as clouds move in, bringing a 60 per cent chance of flurries.

That weather will continue through Sunday, with a high of 3 C, flurries and cloudy skies during the day followed by flurries, cloudy skies and a low of 6 C at night.

This weather is actually a little cooler than typical, as by the end of February Kamloops normally has highs of 6 C and lows of -3 C.
