VERNON - The annual citizens patrol will be out again in full force this week to help shoppers keep all their well thought-out gifts safe from thieves.

The Lock Out Auto Crime program is designed not only to keep robbers on their toes, but to educate the public on the measures they can take to avoid becoming a victim.

The RCMP volunteers will be checking parked vehicles in lots across Vernon and leaving notes on cars to help drivers improve or eliminate the opportunity for a crime to take place.

The citizens patrol can be identified by their high-visibility yellow jackets with RCMP Volunteer on the back. The RCMP says these folks are very approachable for questions regarding the program.
