CHASE - Police in Chase are asking for the public's help in finding a driver who hit another vehicle and took off.

RCMP say officers responded to a report of a hit and run in Chase at about 8 p.m. last night, July 24.

When a small red pickup truck towing a white enclosed trailer attempted to enter the Trans Canada Highway westbound from Shuswap Avenue, the driver failed to yield to a semi-trailer on the highway, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver of the semi-trailer tried to brake and pulled to the left to avoid a collision, but hit a concrete media, RCMP say. The red pickup hit the passenger side of the semi trailer and the pickup fled without stopping.

Anyone who has information on this incident is asked to call Chase RCMP at 250-679-3221 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

A few hours before that incident, RCMP were also called to a report of a semi trailer rollover on Highway 1 at Lindberg Road in Sorrento. B.C. Ambulance and JPW Road Maintenance also attended.

A white Kenworth semi was heading westbound when it drove off the road into barriers, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side.

The driver of the truck was issued a ticket for driving without due care and attention.
