KELOWNA - Mike Harrison and his dog Emmy were pedaling into Kelowna last night to complete their biking fundraiser when struck by vehicle.

Miraculously, they suffered only minor injuries including some scrapes and bruises from the collision on Hwy 3 between Grand Forks and Greenwood.

It was the last leg of their 2000 km trek from Kelowna to High River, Alberta and back to raise money for the Paws for a Cause dog rescue charity. Harrison's bike and trailer however were left in rough shape and a friend was called to locate the pair and give them a ride home.

Paws It Forward is a non-profit group working to rescue dogs and promote the adoption of rescued animals, giving them a second chance at life.

Harrison adopted Emmy from a pound in California, where she was scheduled to be euthanized.

They set out on the journey back in July, picking High River as their destination so they could make a charitable donation to those impacted by the flood disaster.
