Century 21 and Easter Seals celebrate 35 year partnership with new Splash of Colour Run

KELOWNA - Century 21 Real Estate LLC , the franchisor of the world's largest real estate franchise sales organization, recently announced that the CENTURY 21® System raised approximately USD 2.4 million in 2013 for Easter Seals in North America.  This donation is approximately 10 percent higher than in the previous year, and brings the total contributions to Easter Seals by CENTURY 21 franchisees and agents since 1979 to over USD 108 million. 2014 also marks the 35-year anniversary of the partnership between CENTURY 21 and Easter Seals.

This year Kelowna's CENTURY 21 Assurance Realty Ltd was in the top eight fundraisers for Easter Seals in North America.  "We are really pleased to achieve this level of success with our fundraising efforts for BC Easter Seals.  We are very committed as a team to send local kids with disabilities to Camp Winfield for a 'one of a kind' summer experience.  The money we raise in the Okanagan helps Okanagan kids and their families.  Together with managing broker Kim Heizmann and the rest of the team in Vernon, we are working hard to make even more of an impact with our inaugural Easter Seals Splash of Colour Family Fun Run/Walk happening on April 19th, Easter long weekend," said Myrna Park, partner and managing broker of CENTURY 21 Assurance Realty Ltd in Kelowna.

A generous donation of chocolate by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and sponsorship by Safeway will ensure that the Splash of Colour Run is a true Easter celebration! Splash of Colour registration is open to individuals or teams. The registration fee is $35 per person, or fundraise a minimum $50 and your registration fee is waived. In addition to event participants, both Kelowna and Vernon events also require a large number of volunteers to help out on the day. Details and online registration to participate and/or volunteer is available at www.splashofcolour.ca.  Easter Seals Splash of Colour replaces the previous Easter Seals 24 Hour Relay held in Kelowna, but still continues to support Easter Seals Camp Winfield.

More about Easter Seals and the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities
In 1947, a group of Lions Clubs in BC decided that they could make a difference in their community by providing transportation to children with disabilities. The BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities was established shortly thereafter, and the development of a province-wide accessible bus system began. It grew to the point that at one time it was the largest private bus system in North America.

From this initial idea, other services for children and their families began to take shape, and with the integration of the Easter Seals franchise came the development of Easter Seals Houses and Easter Seals Camps. Easter Seals has been helping individuals with disabilities and special needs and their families for more than 80 years.
