Casorso Road blocked: a false alarm over suspicious object

Police blocked off a stretch of Casorso Road earlier this morning and put a nearby elementary school on lock down in what they thought was a potential bomb threat. It turned out to be a false alarm and police were called off.

Kelowna RCMP received a report shortly before 10 a.m. this morning from a passerby who noticed a suspicious looking object on the 3600 block of Casorso Road, between Gordon Drive and Lakeshore Road. The report suggested the object looked like a bomb and so police blocked off the road.

“We took necessary precautions for public safety,” Constable Kris Clark says. But the precautions were called off shortly after police arrived on scene.

“It was readily evident it was a false alarm,” Clark says.
