Calgary man busted drinking with teenage boy in stolen truck

KELOWNA – A Calgary man is facing charges after he was found drinking with a teenaged boy in a stolen, high-end pick-up truck in Kelowna Sunday afternoon.

Police were called about two people drinking in a black Cadillac Escalade in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Banks Road near Enterprise Way. Turns out the truck had been stolen from Calgary.

Officers tested the 24-year-old driver with a roadside screen device and found he was drunk, plus the 15-year-old boy had been reported missing from Alberta, according to a media release.

The Alberta man was taken into custody and later released by the courts. He is scheduled to be back before the judge on Aug. 25. Along with the immediately losing his drivers’ license, he is facing a charge of theft over $5,000.

The boy is in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development and will be sent back to his family in Alberta.
