KELOWNA - If you want to be buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, but have lived in Kelowna fewer than 12 months, your family will have to pay a lot more for the privilege.
Now that Councillors approved the increase, non-residents will see a 25 per cent increase over residents. The definition of non-resident also changed to ‘any person who has not resided or owned property within the boundaries of the City of Kelowna for a period of twelve months preceding the purchase of a right of interment in a cemetery plot.’
Last week, councillors approved a rate hike of 2 per cent for all burial services. The increase comes into effect next year.
