Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Red Deer Rebels – 2-0 Loss

Bolton Pouliot stopped 34 shots in his old stomping grounds, but it was not enough in a 2-0 loss to the Red Deer Rebels. Patrik Bartosak was perfect in goal stopping all 32 shots he faced. Vukie Mpofu and Rhyse Dieno were the goal scorers for the Rebels. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 

Friday, February 28, 2014 at Calgary Hitmen – 5-1 Loss

The Hitmen scored three times in the third period en route to a 5-1 win over the Blazers. Matt Bellerive scored for the Blazers as the Hitmen led 2-1 after two periods. Brady Brassart had two goals for the Hitmen and Bolton Pouliot made 37 saves for the Blazers. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 

Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Medicine Hat Tigers – 7-1 Loss

The Tigers big line of Curtis Valk, Curtis Sanford and Trevor Cox combined for five goals and 10 points in a 7-1 drubbing of the Blazers. The Tigers had period leads of 3-0 and 5-0. The Blazers Matt Bellerive broke goaltender Nick Schneider’s shutout bid with 1:09 to play on a blast from the top of the circle. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 

Bowl for Kids Sake

The Kamloops Blazers will be participating in the Bowl For Kids Sake event again this year (formerly Strikes for Tykes) in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kamloops & Region. The entire Blazers team will participate, bowling at 5:30pm at Bowlertime on Monday, March 3rd. To pledge to this great cause, click here.

Kamloops Blazers 2013-14 Hockey Cards Available

The 2013-14 Kamloops Blazers Hockey Card sets are now available. They can be picked up for FREE by visiting Canadian Western Bank located at 1211 Summit Drive.

A limited number of cards will also be available for purchase at the Kamloops Blazers corner store or online by following this link.

Road Heavy Schedule Continues, Six Games Left

The Kamloops Blazers have played seven straight road games due to the Tim Hortons Brier Canadian Men’s Curling Championships taking over the building from March 1st – 9th.

The Blazers are 1-6-0-0 through their road trip. After spending the last week and a half in the USA and Alberta, the Blazers have returned home for a few days of practice.

This week the Blazers will get back on the bus as they play in Vancouver on March 5th and two games in Victoria on March 7th and 8th to conclude the long road stretch.

Two final home games will be played on March 12th against Kelowna and March 14th against Prince George to close out the season.

Prospect Update: Cole Kehler and Deven Sideroff

Goaltender Cole Kehler and forward Deven Sideroff are a pair of 16-year-old players that won the Canadian Sport School Hockey League Championship over the weekend with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Midget Prep team.

Kehler finished the season with a 20-4 record, while Sideroff finished with 32 goals and 74 points in 42 games this season.

Both Kehler and Sideroff have joined the Blazers for the remainder of the 2013-14 WHL regular season schedule.

Alumni Update: Chase Schaber

Chase Schaber (2009-2012) played two and a half seasons with the Kamloops Blazers and spent two seasons as the team’s captain from 2010-2012.

The Red Deer, AB native is playing his second season of professional hockey with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. In 45 games this season, he has recorded 10 goals and 30 points with the Condors.

Schaber was an integral part of the Blazers turnaround during the 2011-2012 season leading the team to a record of 47-20-2-3 and a B.C. Division championship. In 135 career games with the Blazers, he recorded 49 goals, 60 assists and 109 points.
