Blazers Week in Review, December 2

KAMLOOPS - The Blazers likely had their best outing of the year despite a 3-2 loss to the Kelowna Rockets. They outshot the Rockets in this one and came back from a 2-0 deficit with goals from Matt Needham and Josh Connolly. The Rockets won it with 2:40 to go in the game on a shot off the post, off a defender and in. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 

Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Kelowna Rockets – 3-2 Shootout Loss

For the second straight night, the Blazers were the better team but were fooled by the shootout falling 3-2 in Kelowna. They outshot the Rockets 37-31 in the game, but failed to score in the shootout as the Rockets escaped with the two points. Tyson Ness and Matt Needham were the goal scorers for the Blazers. Food Bank Night and Teddy Bear Game

The Kamloops Blazers have two final home games this weekend before they head on their Eastern road trip and into the Christmas break. On Friday, December 6th, the Blazers host the Kootenay Ice as Tim Bozon and Landon Cross return to the ISC. Friday is Food Bank Night as donations to the Kamloops Food Bank will be accepted at the front doors.

On Saturday, December 7th, the Blazers host the Everett Silvertips for their annual Teddy Bear Game. When the Blazers score their first goal of the game, fans will have the opportunity to throw teddy bears on the ice. All the teddy bears will be donated to local charities.

Movember Campaign Comes to a Close

The Kamloops Blazers were pleased to participate in the Movember campaign. The Blazers were split into two teams and joined forces with Tommy Guns Original Barber Shop – Kamloops and Kamloops Harley Davidson!

In total, over $1300 was raised by the players and over $12,500 was raised by both teams. Thank you for the donations.

Kehler Joins Blazers until the Christmas Break

The Kamloops Blazers have added 15-year-old Cole Kehler to the roster until after the Christmas Break. Kehler, who will turn 16 on December 17th, will be with the Blazers as they head out on their Eastern road trip to Saskatchewan and Manitoba following two home games this weekend. Goaltender Bolton Pouliot will be out for the next four weeks due to an injury. For more on the young goaltender, follow this link.

Alumni Update: Marek Hrbas

Marek Hrbas (2011-2013) has been playing his first professional season split between HC Sparta Praha and HC Litomerice in the Czech Republic. In total, Hrbas has two goals and six points in 28 games this season. 

Hrbas was a key member of the Blazers defence the past two seasons playing 132 regular season games and putting up 49 points. The 20-year-old also played 26 playoff games adding four goals and eight points.

Prospect Update: Deven Sideroff

Forward Deven Sideroff (List Player) is playing this season with the Okanagan Hockey Academy Midget Prep team. This is Sideroff’s second season playing in Penticton for OHA.

The 16-year-old has 14 goals, 16 assists and 30 points in 20 games this season helping OHA to a record of 26-2-0 so far. Sideroff suited up for two games with the Blazers last season and had a goal and an assist in his appearances. 

He is playing with fellow Blazer prospect Cole Kehler (6th round, 2012). Kehler is currently with the Blazers until the Christmas break due to an injury to goaltender Bolton Pouliot.  

Carson Bolduc Acquired from Cougars

The Kamloops Blazers got younger as they dealt 18-year-old Aaron Macklin to the Prince George Cougars for Kamloops minor hockey product Carson Bolduc. The 17-year-old Bolduc is from Salmon Arm and into his second WHL season. For more on Bolduc, follow this link.
