Blazers vs. Spokane Chiefs to win

It was a back and forth game as the Blazers hung on for a 5-4 win over the Spokane Chiefs. Aspen Sterzer and Cole Ully had big games recording three points apiece while Tyson Ness chipped in with a goal and an assist. Bolton Pouliot made 31 saves for the win. Click here for Highlights and Recap. 

Saturday, November 2, 2013 vs. Vancouver Giants – 4-3 Shootout Loss

The youth was on display Saturday night as 17-year-old Collin Shirley and 16-year-old Nick Chyzowski were the goal scorers in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Giants. Shirley scored his first as a Blazer and Chyzowski scored his first two WHL goals to send the game to a shootout. Brett Kulak scored the winner in the shootout as the Blazers fell 4-3. Prospects Shine at U-16 Western Canada Challenge Cup

The Kamloops Blazers had six prospects at the U-16 Western Canada Challenge Cup in Calgary this past week.

Jake Kryski (acquired via Prince Albert) had an outstanding tournament finishing 3rd in overall scoring with seven points in four games. Kryski was joined on Team BC by two other prospects as defenseman Clint Colebourn (7th, 2013) finished with one assist and forward Quinn Benjafield (1st, 2013) was pointless in four games. Team BC finished second in the tournament.

Team Saskatchewan featured two draft picks as defenseman Dawson Davidson (3rd, 2013) had two assists and forward Garret Pilon (7th, 2013) had one assist in the tournament as Saskatchewan finished fourth.

Jermaine Loewen (3rd, 2013) helped Team Manitoba to a third place finish in the tournament. Loewen had one assist in four games.

Three Home Games This Week

The Blazers are hosting three home games in a week that has the team play four games in six nights.

Tuesday, November 5th the Red Deer Rebels make their only appearance at the Interior Savings Centre. The Blazers will announce the player of the month and the Fun Factor sumo suits will be in action during one of the intermissions.

On Friday, November 8th the defending Eastern Conference Champion Edmonton Oil Kings are in town. When the Blazers score a goal, every ticket is good for a FREE Tim Hortons breakfast sandwich until Saturday at 12pm. One fan will qualify to win a lease on a 2014 Ford Escape courtesy of Kamloops Ford Lincoln during an intermission puck toss. Pucks can be purchased at the game and all the proceeds go to Kamloops Minor Hockey.

Sunday, November 10th is Seniors Night as Seniors (65+) can purchase a discounted ticket for only $10. There will also be a special ceremony and moment of silence for Remembrance Day.

Alumni Update: Brendan Ranford

Brendan Ranford (2008-2013) has been playing his first professional season with the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League. Ranford went to the Stars camp on a professional tryout and earned an AHL contract with the Stars.

Ranford has played well for the Stars playing in nine games and contributing with three goals and two assists for five points this season.

The 5’10” 185lb 21-year-old from Edmonton played his five year junior career with the Blazers suiting up for a team record 348 games. His 357 career points are sixth all-time in Kamloops Blazers history.

Prospect Update: Dawson Davidson

Defenseman Dawson Davidson (3rd round, 2013) is playing this season with the Moose Jaw Generals of the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League. Davidson has one assist in eight games this season.

Davidson competed for Team Saskatchewan at the U-16 Western Canada Challenge Cup and recorded two assists in four games at the tournament.

BMO Ultimate Fan Crowned

Nadine Schneider was crowned the BMO Ultimate Kamloops Blazers Fan, answering the highest number of Blazers trivia questions correctly against two other Kamloops Blazers fans.

Nadine received a signed Blazers team jersey with the BMO Ultimate CHL Fan crest and a $50 pre-paid MasterCard. She is now eligible to be entered into the draw to win the Western Hockey League grand prize: a trip for two to the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup in London, Ontario (May 23-25).
