Blazers sign defenseman Quinn Schmiemann

Quinn Schmiemann played the 2015-16 season with Notre Dame Hounds Bantam team. He tallied eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 38 games last season.

KAMLOOPS - The Kamloops Blazers have announced the signing of 2001-born defenseman Quinn Schmiemann to a standard WHL player agreement.

Schmiemann was selected by the Blazers in the third round, 59th overall in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Wilcox, SK native, who stands at 6’1” and 160lbs, played the 2015-16 season with Notre Dame Hounds Bantam team. He tallied eight goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 38 games last season.

“Quinn is a smart, two-way puck moving defenseman,” Director of Player Personnel, Matt Recchi said. “We look forward to watching his progress this season. We feel he has good abilities and instincts to develop into a quality player for our organization.”

Schmiemann will suit up in the annual Blue vs. White intra-squad game on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Sandman Centre. Tickets can be purchased at the Blazers Box Office for $5.
