Blazers host two homes games this week

KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops Blazers will host two home games this week as the Portland Winterhawks and Prince George Cougars each make their first visits to Kamloops this season.

Wednesday, Nov. 19 against the Portland Winterhawks is ‘Great Canadian Hockey Night’ as legendary sports entertainer Cameron Hughes returns to help rock the Interior Savings Centre.

We are encouraging fans to dress like a Canadian (hockey jerseys, a curler, lumberjack etc.) for the chance to win a Team Canada autographed jersey.

Wednesday is also Pub Night presented by Compass Group Foods. Select beer and popcorn are just $4 each!

It is also a Tim Hortons Breakfast Sandwich giveaway game. If the Blazers score at least one goal, all fans can redeem their ticket for a free breakfast sandwich from any Kamloops Tim Hortons.

Friday, Nov. 21 marks the first time this season the Prince George Cougars are in town. It is also BMO Fan Appreciation Night with face painting, prize giveaways and thundersticks being handed out.

Friday, November 14, 2014 vs. Spokane Chiefs – 4-2 Loss

The Chiefs scored three first period goals as they cruised to a 4-2 win over the Blazers. The Blazers battled back over the second half of the game, but the early deficit was too much to overcome. Jake Kryski and Matt Revel had the goals for the Blazers while Cole Kehler and Connor Ingram split the goaltending duties. Click here for Highlights & Recap.


Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Everett Silvertips – 3-2 Shootout Loss

The Blazers battled back from a 2-0 deficit to score twice in the third period, including with 1-second left in the game to send it to overtime. A 15-round shootout ensued with the ‘Tips winning 3-2. Mike Winther and Deven Sideroff scored the Blazers goals. Michael Fora had the lone goal in the shootout. Connor Ingram made 21 saves and stopped 13 of 15 shots in the shootout. ‘Great Canadian Hockey Night’ & ‘BMO Night’

The Kamloops Blazers are hosting two home games this week against the Portland Winterhawks on Wednesday and the Prince George Cougars on Friday.

Wednesday is ‘Great Canadian Hockey Night’ and sports entertainer Cameron Hughes is returning to the Interior Savings Centre. It is also ‘Pub Night’ with select beer and popcorn priced at only $4 each!

Friday will mark the first time this season the new look Cougars are in Kamloops.

Prospect Update: Garrett Pilon

Garrett Pilon (7th round, 2013) is in his second season with the Saskatoon Contacts of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League.

The 16-year-old forward currently leads the SMAAAHL in scoring with 11 goals, 19 assists and 30 points in 17 games this season.

The Contacts sit third in the 12-team league with an 11-4-0-2 record.

Pilon was signed to a standard WHL contract this past September at the conclusion of training camp.


Alumni Update: Devan Dubnyk

Devan Dubnyk (2002-2006) is playing in his 6th NHL season with the Arizona Coyotes.

The 28-year-old has had a great start in his first season with the Coyotes. Dubnyk has a 4-0-1-0 record with a 2.25 goals against average and a .925 save percentage.

Dubnyk is one of the best goaltenders in franchise history. He suited up for 192 career games with the Blazers and recorded franchise records in shutouts (15) and career save percentage (.912).

Ully Has Strong Team WHL Performance

Kamloops Blazers’ 19-year-old forward Cole Ully competed for Team WHL last week in the Subway Super Series.

Team WHL lost both games to Team Russia, but Ully recorded a goal and an assist in a pair of 3-2 losses.
