Big White Rally Weekend a Resounding Success

Big White Ski Resort hosted the 6th annual Big White Rally that took place over the December 7th-8th weekend.  Organized by the West Coast Rally Association, the competing rally teams tested the limits of speed and braved the brisk cold, on surface terrain of: snow, ice, ridges and bumps.

With one of the largest starting fields to date, 28 registered entrants competed in the SnowX competition.  The SnowX competition took place in the Happy Valley Parking lot, where spectators were able to view the race from the backside of the Happy Valley skating rink.  However, the thrill seeking spectators had the opportunity to watch from designated areas accessible on the forest stages.

The competition was fierce, but driving away in a 2005 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 8, the number one spot was taken by Win van der Poel and his co-driver Bryan Lord, with a time of 01:37:21.40.   Not far behind were Josh Shewchuk and his co-driver Aaron Neumann who revved up in second place.

With a podium finish and champagne splash, the event wrapped up in front of the Happy Valley Day Lodge at approximately 8:30pm.
