Bernard Avenue Phase 1 short-term closure for early final paving

Beginning Thursday, June 13 at 7 a.m. Bernard Avenue from Richter Street and including the St. Paul street intersection will be closed until 5 p.m. to thru traffic for top lift paving.

On Friday, June 14 Bernard Avenue will require intermittent lane restrictions from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to complete top lift on Bertram and St. Paul streets and line markings on the permanent asphalt.

This schedule is subject to change as paving is weather dependant and precipitation could cause delays.

Sidewalks will remain open, businesses will remain accessible and angle parking between St. Paul and Ellis streets will be available as usual.

Traffic control personnel will be directing motorists and pedestrians, the public’s cooperation and patience will be appreciated.

With the early completion of the second phase of the $14-million revitalization project on Kelowna’s “Main Street,” there is an opportunity to expedite the project and complete final paving in the first phase which was originally scheduled for spring of 2014.

Visit kelowna.ca/cityprojects to see the complete phasing and learn more about the project.
