KAMLOOPS - Don’t let your young animal lover miss the opportunity to spend a week at a B.C. SPCA summer camp!

There’s still space left in some of the week-long camps in Kamloops, which immerse kids aged seven to 12 in a range of fun, engaging activities that increase their understanding about companion, farm and wild animals and help them develop skills to make a difference for animals in their community.

“Spaces are filling quickly – some of our locations are already full, but we do still have some spots available in certain locations,” says Paula Neuman, humane education manager with the BC SPCA, noting that earlier this summer, the Kamloops SPCA put out a plea to fill a camp counsellor position – and were rewarded with immense community interest. “We want to thank everyone who contacted us about the position – the response was amazing! The positions have since been filled, and we are so grateful to be able to offer camps again this year.”

The camps offer a variety of activities, including outdoor and indoor games, hand-on creative projects, making toys and treats for the animals, shelter tours and visits with specially selected and approved shelter animals.

“There is always something new for returning campers, but for those who have never attended, they can expect to have fun and make friends while learning about animals and how we can best care for and protect them,” says Neuman.

For a full list of available summer camp dates and locations, and to register online, visit the SPCA summer camp website.
