B.C. Lottery Corp. looking at new property in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - The B.C. Lottery Corp. is looking for a real estate advisor to help determine whether the company stays or moves out of the current downtown location.

The current building, which houses the head office for the company including call centre, data centre, information technology, security, human resources, financial and executive divisions, is more than 50 years old and is need of upgrades to a lot of aging components, many of which are original to the building.

The building has been known to leak during major storms, including a July 2014 storm which resulted in water leaking in through light fixtures. In fall 2014 a major overhaul of the parking lot was also started, with completion in 2015.

The company is now looking for a cost-effective, long-term solution through a real estate advisor who will help review and plan the office space requirements in Kamloops.

The request for real estate advisory proposals closes May 19 and the company hopes to have facility recommendation and design complete by mid-December 2016 with occupancy of the new facility in 2019.
