B.C. Lions sign to train in Kamloops through 2017

KAMLOOPS – It was 2010 when the B.C. Lions made Kamloops their training location. On Monday, the team announced a second deal with the City and Thompson Rivers University to continue hosting the annual training camp through 2017.

“Extending our stay in Kamloops for three more years demonstrates the outstanding success of this relationship over five previous training camps,” said Lions president and CEO Dennis Skulsky. “Training camp is one of the main building blocks of a winning team and the support of the City of Kamloops, Thompson Rivers University and our many corporate partners has been a big part of our success on the field as well as the province-wide growth of our brand.”

Sun Peaks Resort has also renewed sponsorship for the team.

“Since we first began working with the Lions, the club has won a Grey Cup and Sun Peaks Resort has grown to be the second largest ski area in Canada. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with the Lions as we work together in our mutual pursuit of excellence," said Darcy Alexander,Vice President of Sun Peaks Resort Corporation.

Training camp typically starts at the beginning of June with the team practicing at Hillside Stadium. Training also includes the rookie camp.

The next B.C. Lions game is on Friday, Sept. 19. The team will face the Toronto Argonauts.
