Ballet Kelowna is once again offering a preview of the season’s dancers and upcoming performances at their third annual Launch event on Friday, October 28 from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.  Hosted by Artistic Director and CEO Simone Orlando, this event is open to the public and provides a unique opportunity to get ‘up-close-and-personal’ with Ballet Kelowna.

Launch is a one-hour informal showing that will preview new work from Ballet Kelowna’s 2016/17 Season and provide a glimpse into the Company’s daily training, rehearsals, and the choreographic process. Award-winning choreographer Donald Sales will speak and present excerpts from his new work for the Company. Attendees will also enjoy a sneak-peek of a new work being created by Simone Orlando and set to music by Canadian jazz legend Oscar Peterson.

“Ballet Kelowna’s 2016/17 Season celebrates Canada’s 150th anniversary,” says Orlando. “We have four world premieres scheduled plus a spectacular season finale collaboration with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.  At Launch, you will get a behind-the-scenes look at the exciting dance works we are preparing.”

Admission is by donation at the door with first come, first served seating. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

“As the only professional dance company in BC’s interior, we are committed to bringing excellent, inspiring and memorable dance to the region,” says Orlando, “and this season we are going above and beyond to honour our country and celebrate Canadian artists.”
