Arrest made after alleged lunchtime robbery at Canadian Tire

Kamloops RCMP have arrested a suspect for uttering threats at a North Kamloops gas bar earlier today.

A man called RCMP alleging a male had approahced him and threatened to shoot him on 8th Street around lunchtime today.

A press release issued by Kamloops RCMP Const. Bernie Ward said no gun was produced by the suspect, and that he turned away and walked off after asking the man for the bag he was carrying.

The victim kept his eye on the suspect, called police and pointed him out to them upon their arrival.

The suspect was taken into police custody after attempting to flea the scene.

RCMP continue to investigate the incident and charges are pending.

Early reports are saying a robbery took place around lunchtime at the North Kamloops location of Canadian Tire.

Kamloops RCMP Const. Bernie Ward said few details are available at the time.

He noted that one person has been arrested in relation to the alleged event that took place on 8 Street between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.

"We're trying to discern whether it was a robbery or not," Ward said. "They're in the process of investigating the offence."

Canadian Tire staff have refused to comment.
