Apple Triathlon volunteers could win plane tickets

Competitors during the run portion of the 2009 Kelowna Apple Triathlon.

KELOWNA -  Volunteer at the annual Pushor Mitchell Kelowna Apple Triathlon August 20 to 21, and you could win a trip anywhere in North America.

Air Canada has come back on board to support the volunteers and the event itself by providing two tickets for a couple of lucky winners.

“The safety of the more than one thousand racers who compete in the event is crucial and that’s where our volunteers come in,” race organizer Malindi Elmore said. “Volunteers are critical to making sure we put on a world class race that everyone can enjoy, and that is why we do what we can to make sure our volunteers feel appreciated. Air Canada’s donation of these tickets is the perfect way to do that!”

The tickets, among other prizes, will be drawn in the days following the Apple Triathlon wrap up.

Volunteer positions are still available online here.

This year marks the 34th year for the triathlon, making it one of the longest recurring sporting events in Kelowna.

- This post was corrected on July 30, 2016. The contributor needed to clarify that the Apple Triathlon is one of the longest recurring events in Kelowna, not the longest.
