Apple Triathlon to discuss future at AGM

KELOWNA -The Kelowna Apple Triathlon Society will be hosting the 32nd annual Pushor Mitchell Apple Triathlon in August 2014. This year's AGM takes place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre. All previous participants, event volunteers and members of the public are welcome to attend.  President Richard Montgomery will provide an update on the plans for 2014 including several new events that will give some great exposure to Kelowna. Refreshments will be served.

Initiated by John Hindle, former mayor of the City of Kelowna, the Apple Triathlon started back in 1983 and hosted the very first "World Championships" in 1988. Even though the event was an unofficial World Championship, it was followed by the formation of the International Triathlon Union and the first official World Championships in France in 1989.

The Kelowna Apple Triathlon Society is a non-profit organization made up of approximately 50 directors and coordinators. The event takes 12 months to organize with more than 1,000 volunteer positions filled during the two-and-a half day event.  Retired Canadian triathlete Simon Whitfield, Olympic Gold and Silver medal winner mentioned this as one of his favourite triathlons.

Get involved this year and join us for the Kelowna Apple Triathlon Society AGM at 7:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre! General enquiries can be addressed to appletriathlon@gmail.com
