Advanced voting statistics up for Westside-Kelowna byelection

Turnout statistics are in for advanced voting July 3 to 6 for the Westside-Kelowna byelection.

Advanced voting attracted a total of 5,777 people, with 2,044 coming out July 3, 1,395 July 4, 1,073 July 5 and 1,265 July 6. Advanced voting for the election in 2009 only attracted 3,777.

The close of general voter registration was June 19 and by that day there were 45,649 registered voters for the electoral district. In contrast, there were 44,830 registed for the general election in May, a difference of 819.

While general voter registration is closed, voters can still register or update their information when they go to vote. All voters must prove their identify and residential address before voting or registering when voting. Further information and the locations for general voting can be found at the Elections B.C. website.

Voting takes place July 10, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
