Members of the public have a rare chance to enjoy the Area 27 racetrack in Oliver at full throttle.

Cars for a Cause is a fundraiser being held in support of the Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society Child Development Centre. Anyone can purchase a ticket to be a passenger in a McLaren, Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Aston Martin or Dodge Viper on July 20.

“Area 27 members are generously donating their time and luxury cars to provide a co-pilot experience to those seeking a thrill,” reads a media release. “While you’re waiting for your session, view cars lapping on track from the berm or take a walk through our show’n’shine area featuring gorgeous local cars.”

The most expensive 30-minute rides cost $640.34. Some of those include riding in a 2018 Lamborghini Huracán, 2022 McLaren 675LT Spider and 2023 Porsche GT3 RS.

The most affordable options start at $214.33 for 30 minutes – that can buy a ride in a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE, 2002 Honda S2000, 2007 Mazda MX5 Race Car and 2014 Supercharged Ariel Atom. Find a list of all the vehicles and pricing here.

Co-pilots will receive several laps in the car of their choosing and will be permitted to bring up to two guests with them to spectate, according to the event's description.

Money raised through Cars for a Cause will benefit children with developmental challenge.

This event was only held once before in July 2019 and over $100,000 was raised.
